I am looking forward to an amazing year full of enthusiasm. My goal is to foster a love of reading and writing in each and every one of my students. Throughout the year, we will be reading poetry, short stories, novels, informational texts, academic essays, and meaningful quotes in order to analyze text effectively. Period 1 will be reading "The Giver" as our first novel in November. Periods 2 and 6 will be reading "The Watsons Go to Birmingham 1963"! Currently, we are reading short stories in class such as "Duffy's Jacket" and "Eleven". If you have any other questions about reading material, just send me an email and we can discuss!
In writing, we work on narrative, argumentative, and expository writing. There is a strong focus on research-based writing, as well as text-dependent writing.

Creative writing is a passion of mine, and during the 4th marking period, we will create a literary magazine to showcase the creative writing skills we've developed as a class. Each student will take home a portfolio full of unique writing pieces! Please feel free to reach me via email at: [email protected]
