In 1989 students protested for civil liberties, such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly. Many rights that we take for granted today. You may take notes while we watch the news report. Then, write a paragraph about why the students were protesting, what measures did the Chinese government take and what ultimately happned. Finally, include if you think this could happen in the U.S. today and explain your answer. Make sure you answer the following questions in your answer: 1. Why were students and other activists portesting the Chinese government in 1989? 2. What were some ways the students and others were protesting? 3. How did the government react to the protests? 4.
