Welcome to Mrs. Wry's Classroom Page
My name is Mrs. Wry (look up the definition of wry in the dictionary to learn a great deal about my sense of humor) and I have been an instructor of Language Arts for over 40 years. I have a BA in American Literature from Rutgers College as well as an M. Ed. from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. I began teaching at the high school level and have also taught elementary, but middle school has been my home for over 30 years. I was a Part-Time Lecturer at Rutgers College for over 25 years but am now retired.
Language Arts in grade 8 is taught as a double period. I instruct classes in Literacy and Written Expression
Period 1/8 Literacy and Written Expressions
Period Four Written Expressions
Period 5/8 Literacy and Written Expressions
Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns

Developing a great vocabulary is one of the most overlooked ways to improve our lives. It is often believed that learning many words is only useful for writers and speakers, but the truth is that everyone benefits from it, both personally and academically. A great site for vocabulary enrichment is: Word of the Day
You can sign up to have the word of the day sent directly to your e-mail. If you choose to do this try to add the words gleaned to enrich your written and spoken communication.
A fun and socially conscientious site for vocabulary enrichment is: Free Rice
Have fun feeding the hungry AND learning! By the way, Free Rice is also great for Language, Humanities, Chemistry, grammar, geography, and Math: Free Rice Categories
You will be taking the PSAT in grades 9-11 grade in the fall in high school and the SAT in the spring of your junior year. There is no time like the present to begin your study for it. To that end, go to: SAT Question of the Day
