About Me

I was born and raised in Colorado. After graduating high school, I joined the United States Navy, an experience that allowed me to see many countries, especially those in Asia, and to observe many cultures.  This experience, which included learning about the histories of these countries, reinforced my desire to learn more about my own country's history and eventually become a teacher.

After 5 years, I completed my tour of duty with the Navy and then enrolled at the University of California at San Diego where I earned a bachelor’s degree.  After graduating with a degree in history, I relocated my family to New Jersey.  It wasn’t long before I enrolled in graduate teacher education courses at Monmouth University, from which I received a master’s degree in education.

Shortly thereafter in August of 2000, I was hired by the Marlboro school district. I taught at Marlboro Middle for 3 years. I then helped open Memorial in March of 2003 and have been there ever since.
